Where are the monitors manufactured? All Eizo monitors are manufactured in Japan. Eizo does not depend on any supplier. In this way Eizo can select the best available technology on the market.
What's the difference between TCO`03 and TCO`06?TCO'06 Media Displays is a modified version of TCO'03 Displays. The certification is first of all oriented to Multimedia monitors (TV, movie, video etc.) but also for regular TV sets, and more in particular LCD monitors. The requirements of TCO'06 Media Displays are thus based on those of TCO'03 Displays, in which some criteria have been modified to answer to the function and way of use. A regular monitor for a workplace should primarily be certified to TCO'03 Displays.
How does EIZO onsite service work? The actual onsite service is performed by our dedicated service partner Teleplan. Please call the hotline on +32.2-709.93.23 from Monday until Friday from 8.00 until 16.30 o'clock. If an exchange of the monitor is necessary, an equal replacement will be available within one working day. A courrier will come to your premises and will deliver the exchange equipment at the designed reception. He will take the defective equipment with him.
Can I use two PCs on one LCD?EIZO Monitors are mostly equipped with two signal inputs. With one button : Signal 1-2, you can switch between both PC without any problem.
DVI (digital) or DSub (analogue) which is better? It's always better to use a digital signal. With DVI one does not have to change anything. The digital signal is shown 1:1 on the monitor. One must of course have a graphic board with a DVI connector. Most recent graphic boards do offer a DVI-I connector. When you only have an analogue connector on your monitor, then you can use only the analogue signal og the graphic board and the analogue connector on the monitor. Precisely these items can cause loss of quality in the image. Analogue signals of graphic boards may vary from one manufacturer to the other. The optimal setting is obtained through the "Auto Adjust" function of your monitor. In short : When your monitor is digitally connected with DVI to the graphic board, you will always benefit from the highest image quality. When using an analogue signal, the quality mainly depends on the quality of the graphics board.
What are DVI-I and DVI-D?Two kinds of DVI connections exist: DVI-I and DVI-D. With DVI-D (D as in digital) one uses a digital only interface. One cannot use an analogue signal and in this way DVI-D Monitors are not compatible with analogue graphic boards. With DVI-I (I as in integrated VGA) the interface deals with as well digital TMDS signals as analogue ones. A newly developed connector standard ensures universal connection possibilities and compatibiliy.
How do I get a portrait image when I turn the monitor? In pivot or Portrait mode the monitor is turned 90°. This may be useful in e.g. image treatment or wordprocessing, In order to be able to use this function, you need a graphic board that supports the 90° angle, in which case the image will not turn automatically. Several graphi boards from reknowned manufacturers offer this function, and you won't need additional software from Eizo or third party suppliers.
Can I adapt my monitor through software?Yes, with the ScreenManager Pro Software. With this tool, Eizo monitors can be steered through the USB connector. For monitors that have the Fine Contrast Funktion the software allows several programs to automatically select a specific Fine Contrast mode. You can also set Hot Key which allows you to set a better definition of the OSD. The software is a Windows application.

LCD monitors can have pixel failures. How does Eizo deal with them?Monitors with LCD Technology can - depending on their diagonal - offer more than 2 up to 6 Million image points, which each have a size smaller than one hundreth (1/100) of a square millimeter. The so called pixels can show failures, which you can see when they light up in one static colour or remain black. The way you perceive this will depend on the area around that pixel. Bright pixels are hardly viewable in a light environment. Every LCD monitor is, concerning pixel failures, unique. In order to state a clear policy what Eizo tolerates in terms of defective pixels, we had our monitors certified according to ISO13406 since mid 2000. ISO distinguishes pixel failures in different classes. We guarantee you that every EIZO LCD monitor is conform to Class 2 of this regulation, and over all monitors shipped we in general do much better. LCD modules that are not compliant to Class 2 are not in use at Eizo. Every EIZO monitor is thus at least compliant to ISO 13406 class 2.Your advantage : the respect to this internationally accepted regulation is guaranteed.

How can I calibrate my EIZO monitor?ColorNavigator is a software with which one can calibrate and profile the ColorGraphic LCD Monitors. IMPORTANT : please do not use any other Calibration software which one cannot use to address the hardware function of the ColorGraphic LCD Monitors. The following Colorimeters and Spectralphotometers are supported by ColorNavigator :
Spectralphotometer: Eye-One Pro of GretagMacBeth, Eye-One Monitor of GretagMacBeth, Colorimeter: Eye-One Display of GretagMacBeth, Eye-One Display2 of GretagMacBeth, Spyder2 of ColorVision, DTP94 of X-Rite
How can I best choose Gamma and Whitepoint of my monitor? Our recommendation for CG monitors :
Whitepoint: In practice it is common to align the monitor's whitepoint with a Daylight hood (and not with ambient light). This means D50, or 5.000 Kelvin. For proofing with daylight or for photography, D65 is most common. Gamma: It is recommended to choose the tonecurve characteristic of the monitor in such a way that it approaches the working Colour Space best. Doing so, colour management of the application or operating system does not have to correct the tone values for viewing too much.
Examples: PhotoRGB, AdobeRGB, sRGB are based on a Gamma characteristic of 2,2. In this way, the monitor should be calibrated at 2,2 ECI-RGB at a Gamma of 1,8.
The L*-Colour Space does not have a Gamma function. All in all, for all these recommendations, we're talking about the finest nuances. Colour Management takes care of the monitor's prophile, which uses the set Gamma, when it calculates the visualization. In order to avoid Banding, it is recommended to choose the Colour Space Gamma. Or one works without Gamma but with L* on monitor AND Colour Space. Only the lighting of the proofs will be unknown to the colour management. So, it is useful to choose Whitepoint according to the lighting of the proofing, and not to the one of the Colour Space.
Our recommendation for the Flexscan Monitors is Gamma = 2,2 and Whitepoint=6500
How can I have my Eizo monitor repaired in case a defect would occur?Repairs and procedure for the onsite service :
Please call the hotline : +32.2.709.93.23.
Working hours are from Monday through Friday, from 8.00 until 16.30.
For repairs on out-of-warranty equipment, you will receive a cost estimate before the repair. In case you should decide not to pursue the repair, the cost estimate remains to be paid.
How should I clean the surface of my Eizo monitor? In order to keep the monitor in its original state and to prolong its lifecycle it is recommended to clean it on a regular basis. Please clean the housing and the LCD surface as described hereafter :
IMPORTANT : Never use "thinner", Benzol, Alcohol (Ethanol, Methanol or Isopropylalcohol), agressive products or strong dissolvants because they will damage the housing and the LCD panel. We need to point out that not respecting this rule may void warranty as it is considered a user fault.
Housing: To take off stains, use a slightly moist tissue, if needed with a mild cleaning product. Never apply the cleaning product directly onto the housing (you will find the precise details in the manual)
LCD Display: If needed you can rinse the surface with a soft tissue (cotton or tissue to clean eye glasses).
Stubborn stains can generally be removed making this tissue slightly moist as it enhances the cleaning power.
Are Eizo monitors compatible with all graphic boards?EIZO monitors have the capability to synchronize all horizontal frequencies within a defined bandwidth. Thanks to this, the monitor can easily switch from any application and in between various resolutions.
Use: The user can visualize several applications, using various resolutions. The monitor reads the signal and shows the optimal visualization.
Explanations on the denomination of Eizo modelsAs our monitors have several extensions in their naming, we'd like to explain them a bit more :
-BK: Black housing, -GY: Grey housing, -WS: White-Silver housing, -TS: Titanium-Silver housing, W: Widescreen, H: Height adjustable stand, E: EasyUp stand (optional)
I do not obtain the recommended Resolution. What could be the cause ?This could be caused by the driver of the graphic board. Please install the newest driver for your graphic board and reboot the system. Older graphic boards may not be able to support the requested Resolution. In that case, we'd recommend to use a graphic board with a DVI connector.
When do I need a Colorimeter and when a Spectralphotometer?Spectralphotometers like i1pro can measure light colours. These can be used in connection to the EIZO Monitor Calibration software ColorNavigator. The i1pro can also measure body colours. For the Calibration of scanners, printers and other output devices, you need other software, e.g. the ones offered by X-Rite. Colorimeters like i1displayII, DTP94 and Spider3 can measure light colours. They can be used with the ColorNavigator software from Version 4.0 onwards.
My monitor is unsharp. What can I do?Please verify first the Resolution your LCD can handle. Please check the maximal Resolution which your LCD is capable of. When you've set a lower Resolution, it can produce an unsharp result.

Resolution
An LCD panel is composed of a fixed number of image points (pixels), that can light up in order to show an image. This image is built through horizontal and vertical pixels together. LCDs obtain the best quality when all pixel data can be shown, this means when the computer's resolution is the same as the LCDs maximal resolution.
DVI
A digital connector for flatscreens. The DVI can, using the TMDS signal protocol, show the digital data from the PC dirzectly and without quality loss. There are two kinds of DVI connections : a DVI-D connector for digital signals only and a DVI-I connector for digital and analogue signals.
Gamma
The colour tone represntation is related to the change of entry signals. This value is known as the gamma characteristic. At image representaton lower Gamma values generate more "whitish" images, and higer values contrast intensive images.
sRGB
International standard for an RGB colour space (Red, Green and Blue). To allow a colour match between several applications and devices like e.g. monitors, scanners and digital cameras, a colour space that can be covered by all devices is defined. sRGB images that are generated or shown on the sRGB devices have the full sRGB colour space. Colour matching like whitepoint and gamma are well defined.
USB-Hub
In connection to an USB compatible computer the monitor can serve as an USB Hub to which other USB compatible devices can be connected.
Calibration
A procedure to make sure that colour production devices are set to a well-defined setting.
Colour Space
The totality of colurs a certain device can reproduce. A colour is beyond the Gamut when the device does not have that colour available.
ColorNavigator
Is a calibration software, shipped in the box of a EIZO Color Graphic LCD monitor. It takes care of an interactive steering of the colour tables (LookUpTable) inside the monitorn and generates a so-called monitor colour profile.
Colorimeter
Colour measuring device that, with the help of colour filters (mostly RGB), measures the colour characteristics of production devices. Colorimeters are mostly used for calibration and profiling of monitors.
TN
TN Panels are ideal for standard office use thanks to their angle independant contrasts. If the application needs a perfect representation of moving images, it also offers faster switching times.
PVA
PVA Panels offer the highest contrasts and even colour saturation up to the screen's borders. In combination with the Overdrive Function they offer brilliant images, moving or still.
LUT
Here in the monitor the signal values of the colour tones are stored. For a precise colour representation, the EIZO monitors are equipped with a 12 or 10Bit LUT, instead of the 8 Bit LookUpTable (LUT) mainstream monitors use. Precision work that is taken care of by an Eizo developed heavy-duty chipset.
ScreenManager
This is the monitors on screen menu which offers you a wide variety of monitor setting functions. Self explaining icons make settings according to your personal liking very easy.
Height adjustable stand
This stand can be adapted in its height and also has a tilt function. It allows, depending on the use, to use it in portrait or landscape mode. Programs like wordprocessing, spreadsheets or internet browsers are for example easier to use in landscape mode.
EasyUp
Can be set straight forward or entirely backwards, at maximal height or flat on your desk, left or right ... the EasyUp stand can be placed in all kinds of positions, as well portrait or landscape. It thus guarantees perfect ergonomy. Only available on request !
